MIG Flux-Cored. Ready To Weld! WIRE FEEDER/WELDERS. Three year Lincoln Warranty on parts and labor.
The sp135+ product handout doesn't say multiple pass but should. If you look at suggested settings chart on your welder's door, it requires selfshielding flux core wire for steel 10 ga. (.105') and thicker with multiple passes required. If you look in your manual it discribes multiple pass welding as making a pass on each side of butt joint or making a single pass fillet weld on both sides of a T-joint. I would lower your expectations with that welder and plan on maxing out welding 1/8' steel in one pass and 1/4' in 2 passes.
I wouldn't weld anything critical thicker than 1/8' with that welder. You also asked about stacking weld beads in multiple passes.
I must say that type of weld joint isn't recommended for GMAW or FCAW with 135 amp wire feed welder. Your welder can't get enough weld penitration to consistantly get robust welds with this procedure. They are done by welding in 60 degree V-groove SMAW (Stick Welder) or 45 degree V-groove GMAW for butt welds. Multiple pass fillet welds are also used. They are much harder welds expecially if you have to weld over prior crappy weld.
Well if you do weld over prior crappy weld it's a major sin. Prior welds must be perfect or mistakes ground out and rewelded. Any slag inclusions or other defects you weld over is future failure point. Go ahead and practice that type of weld joint as it is humbling experence.
